Background:
The story of DethFX began in mid-2021 when bassist Brett Kaffenberger met vocalist and guitarist Raul S Collazo in the Orlando, Florida area. Raul had posted an online ad looking for musicians to start a new band. After a few jam sessions playing covers, they teamed up with drummer Rob Tetro, who was also found through an online ad.
As they grew more serious about writing original material, the band realized they needed a second guitarist. In January 2022, Brett discovered Rod Mariani through another ad and invited him for an audition. With Rod’s addition, DethFX finally solidified its lineup.
The diverse musical backgrounds within the group resulted in a unique sound they define as Progressive Thrash Metal — a blend of traditional American thrash with elements of progressive heavy metal. DethFX cites influences such as Slayer, Overkill, Dream Theater, Trivium, Black Sabbath, Symphony X, Anthrax, Tool, Pantera, Sepultura, Lamb Of God, Soilwork, and Between The Buried And Me.
DethFX Lineup:
• Raul S Collazo – Vocals and Guitar
• Brett Kaffenberger – Bass and Backing Vocals
