Margot Robbie says she hasn’t spoken to Lady Gaga about playing Harley Quinn: ‘She’s going to crush It’

The Barbie star, 33, shared her excitement for the 37-year-old performer to step into the role in the upcoming sequel Joker: Folie á Deux during Variety and Entertainment Tonight’s Golden Globe 2024 Awards digital pre-show. “Oh my god, she’s going to crush it. Are you kidding? She’s going to be amazing, I can’t wait to see it,” she told host Marc Malkin.

When asked if the pair had texted about the role, Robbie — who played Quinn in 2016’s Suicide Squad — responded, “I actually haven’t spoke to her about it. I almost don’t want to know so I can save it for the surprise when I get to see the movie.” Robbie previously shared she was “so happy” to see other actresses stepping into the role of Harley Quinn, specifically Lady Gaga, in an October 2022 interview with MTV. “It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning, all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, the way Macbeth or Batman always gets passed from great actor to great actor,” Robbie said at the time.
