Actors who played Multiple Characters in the ‘SATC’ Universe: From Justin Theroux to Peter Hermann

Sex and the City and follow-up series And Just Like That have featured countless guest stars over the years — and some actors have appeared in multiple roles.

Sex and the City, which premiered in 1998, focused on Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her journey to find love in New York City alongside her friends Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Samantha (Kim Cattrall).

After six seasons on HBO and two movies, the hit series was revived as And Just Like That for Max. During his season 1 debut on SATC, Theroux played a guy who flirted with Carrie to help make Mr. Big (Chris Noth) jealous. He returned one year later as Vaughn Wysel — a fellow writer whose family was more appealing to Carrie than him.

“It’s about girls who are dating all the time, you burn through every single male actor in New York,” Theroux recalled during a 2021 interview with Sunday Today. “I did a small part in the first one. You know, enters frame, says a few things and then leaves frame.

And they were like, ‘Why don’t you come back?’ And their idea was that they would just shave my head. And they’re like ‘Voila! total transformation.'” The actress made a cameo in season 1 of SATC as a woman offering insight into motherhood during a baby shower. In season 2, however, Lange brought the role of Carrie’s therapist Dr. G. to life.
