Brazil took first place in two categories
Between the 23rd and 27th of August 2023, the attention of the ice hockey world turned to South Florida in the USA, where the Amerigol LATAM Cup 2023 tournament promoted an exciting international competition. Three teams – U12, U14 (players under 12 and 14 years old respectively) and adult male MENS II – represented Brazil.
The Amerigol tournament was conceived about 6 years ago to promote the inclusion of non-traditional nations in the sport, in addition to promoting ethnic and cultural diversity.
The U12 team, already established with two consecutive titles in the 2021 and 2022 editions, on Saturday won the tournament’s third championship in that category.
The U14 team made its debut represented by a group of young talent ready to face top-level opponents. Brazil was also crowned champion in this category. The green and yellow base in ice hockey is strong and promises many joys.
The adult men’s Mens II team, including athletes residing in Brazil, faces challenges that reflect the determination and passion that the players have for the sport. With the majority of Brazilian athletes residing in different regions, making collective training difficult and representing a challenge to be overcome. In addition, the lack of official ice hockey rink infrastructure in Brazil demands extraordinary resilience from these players. Even so, the team took the Bronze medal with the 3rd place in that category.
