Originally from S\u00e3o Paulo, 36-year-old Priscila Sheppard discovered her true calling in Alaska, where she became a passionate advocate for wildlife through photography. After moving to the U.S. state with her husband James, Priscila was captivated by the lush nature and unfamiliar animals, inspiring her to pick up a camera and document the region\u2019s beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInitially, Alaska was just a vast wilderness to me, as I was a city girl through and through. But soon, I realized I had fallen in love with this paradise,\u201d Priscila shares. Her love for nature grew as she explored local mountains and forests, capturing unique moments of wildlife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Priscila didn\u2019t see herself as a photographer until she received remote guidance from renowned photographer Luciana P\u00edres, which awakened her talent. Since then, she has developed her own style, focusing on capturing the personality of animals and raising awareness about environmental preservation. \u201cI want to show that animals also deserve to live in their natural habitats,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Her work was recently recognized when she won a photography contest held by the Anchorage Daily News, one of Anchorage\u2019s leading newspapers. The winning photograph featured a rare white raven and was chosen by popular vote.
Beyond her photographic achievements, Priscila is dedicated to environmental conservation. Half of the proceeds from her photo sales are donated to the Eagle River Nature Center, helping preserve local forests and wildlife. During Alaska\u2019s harsh winters, she also donates birdseed to help alleviate food shortages for birds during the cold months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Priscila volunteers with the ACAT (Alaska Cat Adoption Team) organization, photographing adoptable animals and making monthly donations of food and toys. \u201cI always make it a point to allocate part of my photo sales to help animals both in Alaska and in Brazil,\u201d she says.
